Is commission-only telesales worth it?
It is worth it if you can hold a conversation with a stranger and want your income to move with your results. It is not worth it if you need a predictable amount every month. You are paid per verified sale and nothing for the time in between, so a slow week pays nothing at all.
What you are actually trading
There are two arrangements here, and the trade is different in each. On the salaried track you are paid a guaranteed minimum for the hours you work, with commission on top, and the hours are agreed rather than entirely your own. On commission-only you give up that floor and gain hours nobody assigns you. There is no rota, no supervisor and no minimum commitment. What you earn depends entirely on how many conversations you have and how many of them end in a sale a customer confirms. Some campaigns carry a base while you ramp, but that is offered case by case rather than something you can count on.
Who it does not work for
The people who leave are overwhelmingly those who needed the money to arrive on a schedule, or who stopped before the first fortnight of practice was over. If either describes you, an employed contact-centre role is the better arrangement.
We do not publish what you will earn: that depends on your hours, your campaign and your conversion, and any such number would read as a promise. The comparison we do make is against what the same work pays in a call centre, where the seller keeps a fraction of the commission.
